The Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center offers a rigorous, balanced training experience designed to prepare physicians for board certification and long-term success in academic or clinical careers. Fellows gain deep clinical expertise and research experience in a collaborative environment driven by mentorship, innovation and a commitment to advancing care.

Fellows train alongside expert faculty and top-tier internal medicine residents in a high-acuity academic medical center. The program also offers access to research and collaboration across Tufts University School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging and Brown University’s Alpert Medical School.

Both clinical training and research are equally prioritized in our program. The faculty in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division are deeply committed to your growth, offering the time, mentorship and expertise needed to help you succeed in both board certification and academic or investigative work.

Fellows gain hands-on experience in Tufts Medical Center’s high-acuity intensive care units, including a 35-bed Medical-Surgical ICU and 10-bed Surgical ICU, where they care for a diverse, complex patient population alongside expert faculty.

This three-year fellowship offers comprehensive training that leads to dual board eligibility in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, with individualized mentorship and access to more than 150 full-time faculty across the Department of Medicine.

Fellows are encouraged and supported to pursue meaningful clinical or basic science research in collaboration with Tufts University, the USDA Human Nutrition Center on Aging and Brown University’s Alpert Medical School.
