Triplet Nurses Find a Home at Tufts Medical Center

The Russell triplets are all nurses at Tufts Medical Center.

Triplets, Alexa, Jaclyn and Kylie Russell have shared many experiences throughout their lives. The sisters grew up in a close-knit family in Marshfield and graduated from Boston College Connell School of Nursing. Maybe that’s why it’s not too surprising that they’d find their professional home together, as nurses at Tufts Medical Center.

Caregiving just might be in the Russell triplets' DNA. Growing up they were surrounded by nurses who made an impact on their lives. “Our grandparents lived with us and after a serious car accident, our grandmother needed regular nursing care,” said Kylie, RN, Cardiac Surgery ICU. With visiting nurses at their home on a frequent basis and a godmother who was an operating room nurse, the triplets all found themselves drawn to the field of nursing. “Our family has always praised nurses, and we saw for ourselves the compassionate care they provided our family members,” she said.

All 3 sisters became home health aides as freshmen at Boston College, and by their junior year they’d joined Tufts Medical Center as Clinical Care Technicians (CCTs). “It was actually our parents who encouraged us to apply to Tufts Medical Center because of our dad’s positive experience as a patient here,” said Jaclyn Russell, an RN in Neuro-ICU.

Four years later, the sisters are happy they chose Tufts Medical Center. “We work with a tight-knit group of professionals in a hospital with a small community feel – and at the same time, it’s one of Boston’s top hospitals,” said Alexa, RN in Perioperative Services. “We’re so happy to be here.”

The sisters may now work in separate clinical care areas of the hospital, but each says what drew them to Tufts Medical Center initially and keeps them here today is a culture that feels like family.
